The gently-rolling landscape of grassy fields is occasionally interrupted by rows of leafy trees.

The views to and from the Appomattox Court House Landscape contribute to its historic character. At the time of the Civil War battle, the agricultural use of the land helped maintain its openness. Although some of these views remain, the land is more forested than it was historically.
