Sliding Sands Trail in the Central Crater
A straight, sandy trail is a cleared path through low vegetation on the flat crater bottom.
CCC Haleakala Crater Trails District. The Sliding Sands Trail drops to the crater floor, where its takes a straight alignment through a varied landscape towards the Kapalaoa Developed Area. It is likely that the trail alignment has shifted over time as wind has moved the sand.
