This is a photograph of the Blue Flax wildflower that can be found on most trails around Florissant Fossil Beds.
Blue flax or Lewis’ flax – Linum lewisii.
Tall, slender stems support bright blue, 5-petaled flowers.
Blooms last just one day! They bloom from May to July in well drained soils.
Raw seeds contain cyanide which is destroyed when cooked.
