"New York Dec 13th 1852 R.P. Hunt Esq. Dear Sir We have your favor of the 11th & 10th - The [illegible] will be sent as soon as they can be obtained which will be in a day or two - The bill will go forward today - We [illegible] is in the very best and we paid $1.30 per gal - Will send bill as soon as recd We bought today 20 bales cotton at 9 1/2 [cents] which has been sent - This [illegible] the 16 bales will carry you till Christmas and in the mean time we helped to purchase a quantity at 9 [cents] - If we felt that the money market would remain as is present we should prefer buying the cotton [illegible] your drafts as we should gain in interest - If however we should make large purchases it may be that we might prefer you to draw upon us, but would let it remain for the present - As we wrote you we have charged the first 20 bales to you and shall credit you with the 12 bales goods - On reflection we will open an account with you as Agent and charge all your drafts and all our purchases accordingly - We will credit the sales &c to same - This will be simple - When you make drafts"

"(should you do so) you can make [illegible] in that way or in your own name as you prefer. Money is woth a little more than it was last week and 6% is the lowest quotation generally - There is now a little quiet in the markets but we are confident that sales will commence early - Your goods cannot weigh heavier than 3 yard to the pound - We are inclined to shrink if they were a little slacker [illegible] they would look well - We want the weights of each bale on the Invoice - with the number of each and yards placed against it.
Yours truly
Almy Patterson & Co.
The currency $3000 hoes under [illegible] to Seneca County Bank by express - It is directed to you as Agent by mistake of the clerk, or rather by our not mentioning to have it directed simply to you -"
