Mantle broke 2.25 ---- 18.15 ----- $47.69 friend Johns I would have sent thee a draft for the marble before this but have been trying to make Chamberlain & Failing Pay for 2 pieces which was Broken but they say that it was broken when left with them that they have pd the freight to the Commercial Line if any damage thee must get it from them in Albany of Troy where the marble was put on board I think they have charged too much freight their bill is $15.90/100 which I have deducted from the amt of Marble say 65.84 also 1 mantle Broken 5 feet @ 45 is $2.25 (One window sill Broken which I loose) leaving a balance of $47.69/100 for which I herewith send a draft on E.G.Faile & Co N York at sight please forward the back hearth Thy friend”
