Resident program-Roles and Residences Pond Exploration Looking at Finds
U.S. National Park Service
Students are participating in a unit called Roles and Residences. They are exploring the roles of different species and the diversity of habitats in a watershed. Here they are studying a pond ecosystem, catching small animals in nets and observing them in containers. Students record data in their Discovery Books. || The Cuyahoga Valley Environmental Education Center's residential program provides fourth through eighth grade classes an overnight educational experience that integrates science, nature study, environmental issues, and the arts. Students learn natural history and the concepts of watershed, biodiversity, and habitat. In addition, environmental issues and the process of environmental decision-making are explored. The curriculum is designed to meet state standards and teach proficiency skills, especially in science and social studies.
