Walk in historic footsteps along rails in the Sierra de Monts area. Experience beautifully build stone staircase trails that lead to scenic views and Mountain summits. Local Village Improvement Societies designed and built over 1250 miles of trails on Mount Desert Island between 1890 and 1930. Many of the trails in this area are named after residents who found inspiration from the landscape and helped finance the trails
