Large mahogany armchair with leather upholstered seat, pierced decorative back splat and carved sun in top crest rail.
This is the chair made by John Folwell for the Speaker of the Pennsylvania Assembly in 1779. George Washington presided over the Constitutional Convention from this chair in the summer of 1787.
