An Adventure in Good Will: The Commission in Interracial Cooperation: Its Origin and Work
An Adventure in Good Will: The Commission in Interracial Cooperation: Its Origin and Work
This pamphlet was written by Robert B. Eleazer, Educational Director of the Commission in Interracial Cooperation. It describes how the Commission was started as a result of the negative way African-American soldiers were treated upon their return from fighting in Europe in World War I. It goes on to describe how the work of the Commission helped ease racial tension and mob violence. It also describes how the Commission was organized across states, how it functioned and the role of Southern women in the Commission. It ends by saying that the problems between races had improved but that there was still work to be done.
