Cuyahoga Valley Environmental Education Center, Planning Commission
U.S. National Park Service
Throughout the Level 2 curriculum, middle school students have been learning about low-impact development and applying it to planning a residential housing development on specific pieces of land bordering. At the culminating class, CVEEC staff play different roles at a Planning Commission meeting and student groups present their site development proposals. || The Cuyahoga Valley Environmental Education Center's residential program provides fourth through eighth grade classes an overnight educational experience that integrates science, nature study, environmental issues, and the arts. Students learn natural history and the concepts of watershed, biodiversity, and habitat. In addition, environmental issues and the process of environmental decision-making are explored. The curriculum is designed to meet state standards and teach proficiency skills, especially in science and social studies.
