On front of document: “Waterloo April 12th 1832 Dear Uncle and Aunt This day being appropriated for writing [com?]positions I thought I could not spend my time better than writing a few lines to you to inform you how I like my school i am much pleased with it and my teacher also the school is situated very pleasantly on a hill about three quarters of a mile from the Aurora village we have a very pleasant prospect of Cayuga Lake. Last seventh day after noon Lucy Cudwell and myself went to Jesse Fields and stayed until First Day afternoon then Susan Merritt sent up her carriage for us to go to meeting. We took a very pleasant walk last evening. I have been very home sick since I have been here but I feel very contented now. I have a great desire to see you and all my friends and my dear parents and brothers and sisters. I have received two letters from home you can not think how asceptable they were. Please to give my love to all my friends and to my dear parents the children. Please to tell father that I am well and I want him to write me a letter as soon as you receive my letter if you pleas I have no more to communicate to you at present Please, to answer this letter as soon as you receive it From you affectionate niece Mary Ann Quinby” On back of document: "Richard Hunt Waterloo" Aurora.
