LIBI_00215_07049; Photo is black and white. It depicts two double mule-drawn, four wheeled Gatling gun carriages. The gun is visible on the second carriage. There are four soldiers accompanying each carriage. A white house appears to the left rear behind the trees in the immediate background. The image is clear. The verso shows the seal of Christian Barthelmess, photographer, from Fort Keogh, Montana. There are several handwritten notes on verso in different colored ink. The topmost, in blue ink, reads: “Sham Battle Aug 1896”. The 1896 appears to overwrite numbers in red ink that may be “89”. Below and to the left, a note in faded black ink reads: “Fort Keogh, Montana”. ; print, photographic; Courtesy of the National Park Service, Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument, LIBI_00215_07049, Christian Barthelmess, "Two Gatling Gun Carriages at Fort Keogh, Montana," circa 1896.
