Edward G. Faile and Company letter to Richard Pell Hunt
Edward G. Faile and Company
Richard Pell Hunt, 1797-1856
08/08/1828
On front of document: “New York Augt 8th 1828 Friend Richard Hall was at Troy a few days since which was the first knowledge we had of a lot of [paper missing] flour (402 Bbls) being at that place subject to [paper missing] our order. Western Flour is now worth from 5 to 5 ¼ dllrs and our impression is in favour of improvement rather than decline, we would therefore prefer yours remaining where it is if you think there is no [risk?] of souring, of this you are better able to judge than ourselves. We will defer doing anything untill you give us some instructions concerning it. Wheat is scarce, indeed there is not parcell at present in market the last lot brought 108 ½ and a sale to deliver has been made at 9/ – this price would be with difficulty obtained even for the best quality. With esteem your friends Edw G Faille & Co.” On back of document: "Edward G. Faile & Co. Letter 8mo 8th 1828"
