M. J. Sherman to Alice Mary Longfellow, 24 January 1900
Manuscript letter
[printed letterhead: Hampton Normal and Agricultural Institute]
Hampton, Va., Jan 24th, 1900.
Dear Miss Longfellow,
You will be glad to know that I hear the very pleasantest reports of Mattie Walden. The teacher says, "She is a lovely girl, and is doing well in her studies.” She is, to be sure, a "repeater”, but this second year in the Junior class seems to be just what she needed. She is a good girl, and well deserves her place at Hampton.
Thanking you for all that have done for her,
I am
Sincerely Yours,
M.J. Sherman.
Miss Alice Longfellow.
