Desert holly (Atriplex hymenelytra), Tuzigoot National Monument, 2015.
This drought-tolerant saltbush can tolerate the hottest and driest areas of Death Valley and even remains active throughout most of the year. The common name Desert Holly is derived from its holly-shaped leaves, though the plants are not related.
