LIBI_00019_00562; This item is an original tintype (direct positive on iron support) of George A. Custer, Elizabeth B. Custer and Eliza, the Custer's personal servant. The full view tintype is 2 1/4 x 1 1/4" (2 3/8 x 4" mounted in original paper enclosure). Paper envelope is embossed with stars. As noted on page 53 of D. Mark Katz's book, the image was produced circa 1865 and is attributed to William Frank Browne.Note: "Pkg 7" handwritten on the verso. Photograph reprinted in "Custer in Photographs" by D.
