Removing Rear Sections of Blocks
A reddish-tan rectangular stone block with a rough-cut face on the left side sits on the table of a rock saw. The stone has been cut partially through with a tape measure staged in the photo to show that the cut is 5.5 inches from the face of the stone. The frame of the rock saw and the blade poised above the cut are visible just behind the stone. The entire apparatus sits on blacktop, and several more stones, light tan in color, are sitting on wooden pallets in the background.
Each stone will have the rear section removed 5.5 inches from the front face.

A grey stone retaining wall covered in patches of dark green moss, lighter green lichens, and dark forest algae is set into a hillside and runs from middle left to bottom right, with an aged, moss-covered concrete pad filling the space in front of it. Centered in the frame, a section of the wall is inset deeper into the hillside and has a higher top that slopes down to the level of the rest of the wall on the sides. Within the inset is a similarly constructed stone drinking fountain with a concrete basin built into the back of the inset. It has steps to either side for children and a concrete pad slightly higher than the one in front of the wall fills the inset and extends several inches in front of the wall. Low-growing forest floor plants have taken root in the moss and soil around the fountain.
