Photo date unknown. On May 27, 1949 Genearl Hoyt S. Vandenberg, Chief of Staff, US Air Force, announced that the 332nd Fighter Wing and its groups and squadrons at Lockbourne Air Force Base, Ohio would be inactivated. Why? Their black personnel were being re-assigned to formerly all-white USAF organizations.
