CVEEC Lid Trek
U.S. National Park Service
Students participate in a class called LID Trek at November Lodge. They are learning about Low Impact Development strategies and adding to their "toolbox" of techniques that they can apply to designing a sustainable housing development. These images show students inside the Lodge discussing their initial ideas for their housing development. Each trail group is assigned a specific area of land bordering the park and provided with an aerial photo showing the landscape features they must consider. || The Cuyahoga Valley Environmental Education Center's residential program provides fourth through eighth grade classes an overnight educational experience that integrates science, nature study, environmental issues, and the arts. Students learn natural history and the concepts of watershed, biodiversity, and habitat. In addition, environmental issues and the process of environmental decision-making are explored. The curriculum is designed to meet state standards and teach proficiency skills, especially in science and social studies.
