Fossil jaw of a dog-like predator, held in blue-gloved hands, photographed on a black background. The short and sturdy jaw has the appearance of brown, weathered rock, with two sharp, ridged molars and a large pointed incisor. A catalog number on the jaw reads, "HAFO 266."
The powerful jaws of the dog-like Borophagus hilli may have helped it to crack open bones and access the marrow inside. Fossil dates to Pliocene Hagerman, about 4 to 3 million years ago.
