Mary M'Clintock Hunt and Sarah M'Clintock Hunt, II letter to Richard Hunt, II
12/11/1853
“Waterloo 12 mo 11th [1853]
Dear Brother Richard
I have seated myself to write thee a few lines. It is First day evening and Richard Quinby is in the other room. he had been taking tea with us to night. Cousin Lizzie and Aunt Mary Ann have been in cousin L says [she is] going to morrow afternoon a [loss] ¼ I suppose thee will be glad to see her. She wished me to write a few lines to thee as thee would be disappointed not recieving a letter from home. I do not think my dear Brother thee can complain of our neglect in writing when I [ ] thee that this will be [fourth?] letter sent thee since last Second day. Now dont thee think we are prompt in writing I am [envy?] we loose Cousin [Libbie] so soon but I suppose you miss her much more than we do. Willie says whoever is writing to Richard must tell him that he is sick again had the Croup last night but is much better to day sends his love and a kiss to thee he kissed the paper and said [ ] I might give “his kiss to thee”. I think we will go to Mackey’s on Seventh day if we go at all, I have not seen Caroline for some time. We think we shall go to Cousin Emeline Bacons and spend a day while thee is home. Thy pigs are growing very nicely indeed they are still in the pen Pa bought two pigs of John Alliger about the size of thine but I guess a little smaller than thine. Sister Sarah & I filled a sheet to Marcella Underhill last night it is the first time we have written to her since she left home. Uncle George Pryor is again sick with the chills how sorry I feel for him he is so old. I almost forgot to acknowledge the reciept of thy very nice long and interesting letter. We had nothing to say in our letters at least not as much as thee has, but thee will hear all the news when Cousin Lizzie returns. I must leave some space for Sarah to write with [ ] much love from Father Mother [sister?] & brothers I remain thy affectionate sister

As Cousin Lizzie was going home tomorrow she wished us to write to thee has thee got rid of that pain in thy head yet the one thee spoke of in thy Letter as not exactly a headache. I hope thee has we wrote to Cousin Marcella last night quite a long letter Thee wished us to read thy letter over and answer all the questions in it, so I will begin. Thee asked if we had recieved any letters from Boys no we have not. I do not know weather we will have thee [ holidays] or not, but I suppose so of course thee asked who went with Frances Abbey to New York it was her cousin from [Pennsylvania] Father has bought some cattle since thee went but has not sold any, he has been having some stalls made for the cattle. they tie them with stick like [sattons?]. they keep them in there all the time taking them out only to drink, he does not keep all the oxen in there only four and the cows, thine oxen are in there thee wanted to know if I went to [ st] no I did not. Cousin Lizzie and myself started for there one day but it was too hot. Some went back. Little Willie goes to school like a man, but he does not sleep upstairs he slept there a few times but he is not well now so he sleeps with [Janey?] thee asked when Cousin James and Mary are coming out I do not know when Mother and Father have been up to Uncle Georges a little while I think I must close for the present so farewell from thy very affectionate sister Sarah N B has thee eaten all thy apples up yet? didnt they taste good to thee when school was out? Please excuse the writing and answer soon.
