“Meridian Jan 20 1852 Dear Richard As I have not yet forgot you I will write to you with a letter to you to see how you get along after the time I seen you and Gust Bigelow at the Water Cure at the Glen I have wrote a letter to [Jay Oliste?] I wrote it last night a candlelight in the store I carried it over to the post office this morning and now it is mailed and yours will soon be for I shall write very fast to see if I can get it to the post office before the stage comes along but I think I will get it there before if I hurry as I do now it is not wrote very good now how did you and Gust enjoy yourselves a coming up on the steamboat I would hope that you would have a very fine time I should like to see you and Gust and Jay I wish all of us was out to the Glen once more a playing ball in front of the tavern I am as well as I was when you seen me last at the water cure on the steamboat and last time I seen you was on the Water Cure steps and Gust was a waving his handkerchief to hail Jay we had a very pleasant riding down on the steamboat the last time I seen Jay he was at the junction a waiting for the cars to come along to convey him home to his father and mother and tell the news about the glen and its situation and what fine prospects he had from the top of the mountain and the fine ride on the steamboat down the lake.
