Cuyahoga Valley National Park is designated an Important Bird Area by the Audubon Society of Ohio, in part because of the restored grasslands at the site of the former Richfield Coliseum. A property once known for its sports/concert arena is now managed by the National Park Service as a grassland for rare birds. Cuyahoga Valley National Park offers year-round programs on bird watching. || Visitors talk with Lisa Petit, Chief of Resource Management; former Richfield mayor Ralph Waszak, Sr.; and another volunteer at an interpretive program called After the Coliseum in 2006. The program was an opportunity for local residents to learn how the park intends to manage this newly restored property.
