“Waterloo 12mo 20th 1824
Esteemed Friend E.G.Faile I intended to have sent a draft to thee on [a/c?] S Willets but have been dissappointed that is I had 1000 Bus Wheat in Store ready to Send to D Merritt & Son but the boatmen were so driven with business that they disappointed me in not taking it away after making me several promises to take it before the Canal shut up & the consequence is that Merritt does not want to take it as I could not get it to him as I expected so I keep it myself I want to know from thee if it will be convenient for thee to take up the draft thee accepted for me $805.50/100 and I will pay thee the Interest for it untill spring if it is not convenient for thee I will send the money to thee to take it up but I would like to use my money here this winter buying Wheat 6/ pr bus which I think much better than Interest Thee will please write me if it is agreable to do a I propose or not. I wish however thee would call on Benjamin & Hallock and take up my note for $60 I will see it paid thee ere long with Int. please write what thee has rec’d of mine since I left what is sold & what price and prospects for Pork Lard Clover & Linn Seed P. Ash Wheat & Oblige thy friend
