An aged slip of paper titled, "Deputy US Marshal's Oath of Office," with the signature of Addis Bryan dated April 24, 1901. Text reads: “I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute all lawful precepts directed to the Marshal of the Western District of Arkansas, under the authority of the United States, and true returns make, and in all things well and truly, and without malice or partiality, perform the duties of the office of Deputy United States Marshal of the Western District of Arkansas, during my continuance in said office, and take only my lawful fees; and that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; and I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office upon which I am about to inter, SO HELP ME GOD.”
