Cuyahoga Valley Environmental Education Center, Project Preparation 2
U.S. National Park Service
Throughout the Level 2 curriculum, middle school students have been learning about low-impact development (LID) and applying it to planning a residential housing development on specific pieces of land bordering the national park. Here they are finalizing their site development ideas and practicing their presentations for the Planning Commission meeting on the final day. || The Cuyahoga Valley Environmental Education Center's residential program provides fourth through eighth grade classes an overnight educational experience that integrates science, nature study, environmental issues, and the arts. Students learn natural history and the concepts of watershed, biodiversity, and habitat. In addition, environmental issues and the process of environmental decision-making are explored. The curriculum is designed to meet state standards and teach proficiency skills, especially in science and social studies.
