Though clear in subject, the image appears with the blur of motion indicative of a long exposure. Distal branches of trees blend into the clear sky beyond while a river rushing towards the photographer’s perspective is softened. It is because of this softness provided by long exposure that the shadow of a tree can be seen on the water’s surface – a detail that would be obscure to the naked eye.
