Lower Sand Creek Lake Reflection, Great Sand Dunes National Preserve
Lower Sand Creek Lake Reflection, Great Sand Dunes National Preserve
The alpine areas of Great Sand Dunes are dramatically different than the barren dunes below. Six peaks over 13,000 feet in elevation, alpine lakes, alpine tundra, wildflower meadows, and conifer forests are all found in Great Sand Dunes National Preserve, the mountain watershed of the dunes.
