DONOR & DATE: The state of Maine under the auspices of the Maine Society of the Sons of the American Revolution, 1907. HISTORICAL DATA: The state of Maine was the first state, of those who had troops at Valley Forge, to erect a monument (1907). Maine was, at the time of the Revolution, a frontier district of Massachusetts.
