Large black snake with vague mottle pattern and white under head and neck.
Rat Snakes prefer the wooded areas of eastern Kansas. Young have a blotchy pattern of dark brown and cream that becomes indistinct in adulthood. Adults can grow over 6 feet typically with a white patch under the throat. Hawks are their main predator.
