Landscape items show Sleeping Lion Mountain on the left, Davis Mountains above and right, and the alignment of the San Antonio-El Paso Road going north diagonally across the lower right portion of the image. For the NPS Photoshop derivative, HFC staff cartographer Tom Patterson and HFC designer Angie Faulkner worked the original digital file in 1999 to anchor the post's Trader Complex to the landscape plane, enlarged the non-reconstructed two-story Officers' Quarters buildings and added porches, added a gable to the front roof line of the northern-most two-story Officers' Quarters building, corrected the color of the roof to a rich rust on the Enlisted Men's Barracks, and modified the overall coloration of the digital file to add some depth.

Only the National Park Service (NPS) digital derivative is considered accurate. Further color adjustments to lighten and control color contrasts were made in 2004. The government retains the option of access through the contractor to his dimensional model and working file data. In the event that future research or other NPS offices have need to update or create derivative images, the previous body of developmental work may be utilized under separate purchase orders at considerable savings in both cost and time.; Abbr=PUB
