Maggie Laura Walker at the family home in Richmond
Maggie Laura Walker at the family home in Richmond
Maggie Laura Walker, standing in front of fireplace in the parlor of her family home at 110 1/2 E. Leigh Street in Richmond, Virginia. The photo was taken on the eve of her departure for Bermuda in 1937 or 1938. She wears a floor-length dress with sheer sleeves. Her skirt is full with many horizontal tiers of ribbons. She is holding a lightweight wrap, perhaps, and clasps the fireplace mantel. In the cabinet behind her is a bust of Maggie Lena Walker.
