Marine Harmful Algal Bloom - Brown Tide
a shoreline with brown algae on the surface of the water.
Diatoms and dinoflagellates are types of phytoplankton that commonly cause HABs in marine and brackish environments. These organisms can discolor the water with a red or brown pigment, but also be invisible. This example shows a "brown tide."
