Aerial view from an east southeast perspective of extant buildings and structures of the Booker T. Washington National Monument.
Buildings depicted include from left to right: horse barn, corn crib, chicken and duck lot, split-rail fencing, smokehouse, dining cabin, privy, spring, blacksmith shed and tobacco barn. Ghosted shapes in left center show locations for structures no longer extant which include the Burroughs House and Kitchen Cabin. Booker T. Washington was born in the Kitchen Cabin and lived there with his mother for nine years (1856-65).
NPS Photoshop digital derivative was created by NPS on-site contract designer Joanna Morrison from artist Greg Harlin’s original watercolor illustration. In 2004, at the request of Booker T. Washington National Monument staff, the footbridge that appeared over the spring was digitally removed. The actual footbridge was not a historic feature and was removed by park staff for visitor safety.; Abbr=PUB
