ARRA-Construction of Little River and Jakes Creek Trailhead Parking Areas in Elkmont Historic District, Great Smoky Mountains National Park, 2010

Description:

Construction of Little River and Jakes Creek Trailhead Parking Areas in the Elkmont Historic District. Little River Trailhead Parking was non-exisitent and visitors parking off of pavement encroaching on vegetation. Jakes Creek parking was inadequate. The new parking areas were established to define and formalize the parking for the trailheads and provide ADA parking spaces. The parking areas also provide access to the Daisy Town section of the Elkmont Historic District. Parking areas were paved and concrete curb was installed to keep visitors from parking off pavement. This project also repaved existing Little River Road from the Elkmont Campground, and the Jakes Creek Road around Daisy Town.
