Prescribed burn using drip torch ignition at Ash Mountain Headquarters, Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks, May 2004
The Ash Mountain Prescribed Fire Project consists of 12 separate grass units which are ignited at different times given appropriate prescription and resource constraints. The first of these units was ignited on May 5, 2004 and finished on June 11, 2004. The objectives of this endeavor are hazardous fuel reduction around development areas and native grass restoration. These images show ignition methods, backing fires, fire crew holding and patrolling the burn, and blazing brush around headquarters.
