“Waterloo 1st mo 26 1854
Dear Brother Richard
Thy letter was recieved to-day we were thinking that it had been nearly a week since we heard from thee. I was most afraid thee was sick by a note to Aunt Mary Ann to-night we learn that Burroughs will be here to-morrow has gone south some-where. I do not know where. I wrote a long letter to Aunt Catharine last night. I must complain of the head-ache too. I have had it now for three nights third day I had a sick head-ache. Lydia and Hannah Fuller have been visiting Uncle George and Aunt Margaret when they came they intended to stay two"

"weeks but Lydia was unwell so they left to-day. We are reading a debate upon the Bible between Mr [Barker] and Dr. [Berg] it is very long in the ‘Daily Register’ Sent by [Uncle?] George Truman I beleive Uncle Thomas is reading it. We were very much pleased with thy letter this time it was so well written well worded and I do not think there was but one word misspelled in it Mother says She thinks thee is improving fast and says she would like thee to keep up the correspondence with John Aliger she thinks he is a very nice boy Willie is somewhat better to-day he is not sick only that has a very [illegible] cough. he says tell thee that Father has sold the brown oxen that William Morin called his last evening when"

"I was writing to Aunt Catharine Willie said [Matey?] give my love to Aunt C. & tell her that I have not forgotten her [and?] never shall. How does thee like thy new shirts and does thee wear them much? Father & Mother send their love to you. with love I remain thy affectionate sister
