A small, beige colored lizard with faint markings rests on a red rock.

Plateau fence lizards (Sceloporus tristichus) are very similar to sagebrush lizards in range and appearance. One way to tell the difference between them in this area is that plateau fence lizards don't usually have the small circular dot on their shoulders that sagebrush lizards typically have.
