Dear Mr. Wasson:
The Gettysburg Chamber of Commerce has requested us to send you a large scale map of the battlefield. Enclosed is our 1:24000 map. This is the largest we have other than our planning and development drawings.
If this request is relative to the proposed Indiana Monument, we forwarded a map showing the locations of Indiana monuments and markers to Mr. Hubert H. Hawkins, March 16, 1967. We have not received any correspondence from Mr. Hawkins or from the State of Indiana requesting permission to place a monument in Gettysburg National Military Park. As we mentioned in our letter to Mr. Hawkins, the proposed design, site, etc. must be approved by the Director of the National Park Service before any monument can be erected in the Park. All of these requirements should be accomplished prior to construction of the monument. If we can be of any further assistance, please write again.
Sincerely yours,
George F. Emery
Superintendent
