Cannon Monument and the Fort Donelson National Cemetery landscape
Uniform white grave markers in a national cemetery form a circle around a monument, which is a black upright cannon. Leafy trees shade the turf.
The layout of the Fort Donelson National Cemetery, guided by officers from the Quartermaster General division in the late 1860s and 1870s, included an upright cannon monument placed on a mound. It was restored by the NPS in 2013.
