Heavy tree growth can be seen around and throughout the boulders of Devil’s Den. The 4th Maine Infantry monument can be seen on the right of the photograph.

This black and white 1880s William Tipton photograph shows Devil’s Den from northeast of the famous boulders. Two rock formations jutting up from the earth can be seen in the center of the photograph. No roads or monumentation exists in the area and heavy tree growth can be seen all around the Den area.
