Mr. George Emory, Superintendent
Gettysburg National Military Park
Gettysburg, Pennsylvania
Dear Mr. Emory:
Thanks for your letter of December 4, 1969. We had thought that the plans submitted by Mr. Codori could be approved without the approval of the text at this time.
In view of your letter, we have called a meeting of the Commission and hope to be in a position to approve the text on Tuesday, December 23, so that the entire plans can be submitted to the regional director.
In the meantime, we are receiving calls from various monument makers about the status of the monument. We are advised by the Attorney General and the Department of Administration that we must advertise for bids and we have therefore decided that we should advertise at the earliest possible date after receiving the approval of the regional director. It is hopeful that this can be done by no later than the middle of January 1970.
We will keep you advised of developments as they occur.
Very truly yours,
[signature]
