Lands End Lookout – Construction photos group 1

Group 1. Construction photographs for the Lands End Lookout visitor facility at Sutro Heights/Lands End, San Francisco, CA. Construction activities occurred August 2011-May 2012. The project constructed a new, 4100 sq. ft. visitor facility for the Sutro Heights district of Golden Gate National Recreation Area. Facilities include 2500 sf exhibits with integrated retail, 500 sf café, 1000 sf restroom, office for the park Site Stewardship program, and storage. Site improvements included volunteer installation of native plants grown through the park’s nursery program, benches made from Monterrey Cypress harvested in the Presidio of San Francisco, and outdoor statuary which are replicas of statues originally located in the adjacent estate of Adolph Sutro, also part of Golden Gate NRA. Work was performed through a Cooperative Agreement and Task Order between the National Park Service and Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy (1443CA-8140-98-001 / J8142-10-0507). EHDD was the architect; Surface Design was the landscape architect; Plant Construction Company was the general contractor for the Parks Conservancy.
