On April 27, 2024 staff of Acadia National Park's conducted a prescribed burn of around a 8 acre plot of land on the far north side of Mount Desert Island. The intention behind the fire was to perpetuate native plant species growth and to restore the cultural landscape. The prescribed fire was successful without any complications.
