Aralia Hispida (Bristly Sarsaparilla) in Billings-Kittredge Herbaria

Preserved biological specimen on paper.

Preserved Specimen On A3 Paper With A Printed Label Identifying It In The Bottom Right Corner. The Paper Is Mounted On A Larger Cardboard And Covered With Plastic Which Is Sealed To The Board. There Are Three Samples. One Appears To Be The Entire Plant As There Is A Small Section Of Roots And An Apex. A Main Stem As Well As Several Smaller Ones With Leaves Lead From The Roots To Two Groups Of Small Flower Blossoms At The Apex Of The Plant. The Second Sample Is A Branch Section Cut From The Roots And Has Several Off Shoots Which Have Pairs Of Leaves Extending At Irregular Intervals. The Main Stem Terminates In A Group Of Seed Structures, But Only Two Survive Attached To This Sample. The Final Sample Is A Thin Cutting From And Off Shoot. It Has Three Or Four Pairs Of Small Leaves And Five Groups Of Seed Structures, Which Remain Mostly In Tact.The Second Sample Was Found On The Billings Estate.
