1 of 6 bronze equestrians in Park. Mn honors Gen. Howard foresight in selecting Cemetery heights as a rallying point for defense in case of retreat of the Union forces on July 1. Located on East Cemetery Hill, E of National Cemetery & Baltimore Pike. || Mn: 16'5"x10'10" smooth-cut base supports 11'10"x6'2" smooth-cut pedestal. Incised inscription on E&W faces of pedestal, topped w/ bronze statue of General Howard. All 22'7"H. Cleaned & waxed 1979.
