He is wearing several necklaces over a dark vest and light long-sleeved shirt. “H. Fair” and “Joseph” are written in white along the bottom of the image. “Compliments of the Railway and Engineering Review” is printed in gold on the lower left corner of the mount. A handwritten note in orange on the verso reads: “Chief Joseph Nez Pierce”. This image was produced by H. Pair, circa 1885.
