Beardsley & Hite opened the Upper Hotel, in Spring 1859. Hutchings bought it in 1864 and added windows, porches & doros. See Shirley Sargent's "Yosemite & Its Innkeepers", p. 12. See also RL-01,680 & 13,713. copy

This is the first photo - 1859 by Weed; Hutchings didn't take one as proprietor til 1864 - this would still have been called "Upper Hotel". See also RL-01,680 & RL-12,570.
