On front of document: “New York 3 mo 24th 1827 Esteemed Friend R P Hunt If Edward Fifield is disengaged and thee thinks he would suit me being better acquainted with him then I am thee would [inserted] oblige me by speaking to the Doct respecting my taking him awhile on trial if he should suit probably I should like to keep him some length of time if the terms could be made reasonable which I have no doubt of – I just spoke to the doct as I was leaving Waterloo the time was so short that I could do nothing definite if he can come probably I shall want him by the first of 5th mo or before if the canal should open early – I have not purchased much yet clothes are considered to have advanced some other goods about the same Aunt Mary is at Westchester I have not seen her since I returned not heard but what she and the rest were well – please write me on receipt of this and oblige a friend L Lundy P.S. direct to 246 Pearl St please inform our folks to do so too” On back of document: "Levi Lundy Letter 3mo 24 1827" "R.P.
