Arctic Lupine, Lupinus arcticus, is part of the Pea family and a cousin to Texas's Bluebonnets. Members of the Pea family have five distinct petals. Lupine helps build post-glacial soil by contributing nitrogen through nitrogen-fixing bacteria in their root nodules.
